The Ultimate Big Band Experience
78 RPM are a 17-piece band who perform a wide range of music from the luscious big band tones of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie, through the funk of The Average White Band & Earth, Wind and Fire, to the progressive jazz of Pat Metheny.
To complement its big band sound, 78RPM has two vocalists from the trombone section. There is also the option of adding a little "wow" to the line up, with a female singer performing songs from Swing to Latin, in the styles of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Cleo Laine. They can also provide a Rat Pack option with 10-piece band plus singer.
78 RPM provides musical entertainment for many different occasions with a programme packed full of fun and surprises, appealing to a wide audience. Should your event require it, the band's line-up can be fashioned for a ten or fourteen piece and background music is always available live or taped. 78 RPM are immaculately turned out in their black polo shirts which sport the distinctive 78 RPM logo, or dinner jackets can be worn for the more formal occasion.
The band was awarded second place in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Big Band Competition in 1995 and the band's leader, Julian Landymore, scooped the Marty Paich Trophy for best arrangement.
